Silky O'Sullivan's Pub on World Famous Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee

The Legend of Silky O'Sullivan spans the globe. After attending the University of Tennessee, Sunflower Jr. College, the University of Paris-Sorbonne, the University of Georgia, Harvard, and LSU, Silky established Silky Sullivan's in Overton Sqare in 1972 and has been in business ever since. In 1972, with the "O" meaning "Son of", he opened Silky O'Sullivan's on Beale Street.

Silky Sullivan is also known as the "Father of the Bar-B-Que" in Ireland. He started BBQ contest there in 1983, and then took his show on the road. He began Barbecuing in Bangkok and started contests in Thailand. Silky went behind the "Iron Curtain" and brought BBQ to the USSR. He continues to judge contests all over the world.

In 1987, Silky Sullivan brought the first NFL football to the mainland in Europe. The Vikings and Bears played in Sweden. He also takes may groups and tours in Ireland 3 or 4 times a year - as he has done for the past 10 years.

Ultimately, Silky Sullivan received his degree of Culinary Arts from the University of Oxford, England in 1991.
